The audience at the May ‘Monday Talk’ was intrigued to hear how Mrs. Jill Hawes MA would develop this, her chosen title, when she spoke at St. Mary’s Church Centre on 11th. May. Describing the evening as ‘a mystery tour’, Jill presented a simple introduction to the concepts of the conscious and unconscious mind and how they together shape personality and affect relationship between any two people.
Based on her own training and experiences, we heard how the process of psychodynamic counselling can be used when relationships become difficult or break down. A talented artist, Jill provided clear pictorial images to illustrate her talk. This truly gifted teacher and counsellor explained with gentle ease, humour and clarity, a fascinating and deep subject to which each of us was able to relate. Finally, the relationship between man and God, from primitive belief to modern thinking about spirituality, brought a growing awareness of self understanding and challenge. After a time for questions, Jill was thanked by Mr. Michael Booth who has organised the ‘Monday Talks’.
Another most informative and enlightening evening at St. Mary’s, thanks to Jill Hawes.
