Many of you will have met Michael Stagg. A man of many interests, Michael is a popular public speaker on topics relating to nature and his former work as a countryside ranger. And his passion for literature has enthralled and enthused his poetry classes locally.
For the past three years, Michael has served your Parish Church as a Church Warden. This is a role demanding time, talent and tact, qualities Michael has freely given in abundance. Thanking him, the Rector of St. Mary’s, The Revd. Kevan McCormack, spoke of Michael’s tremendous leadership and support. The ladies of the congregation will miss his warm greeting and kiss as they arrive for the Sunday morning service! Always at the door with a smile and hand (or arms) of welcome, Michael was often the first person visitors would meet and his gentle, kind and loving personality shone through to put them at ease.
Michael will be sorely missed but will continue to serve St. Mary’s in many ways, including guiding the parish walks and helping us all in our spiritual development. Greatly supported by his wife, Margie, often referred to by Michael as ‘the staff’, we promise to keep them busy on our behalf!
His successor as Church Warden is Mrs. Barbara Bown. She has a hard act to follow, and we extend our love and support to her as she takes on this vital role in the life and work of your Parish Church.
Thank you for everything, Michael, from us all.
