Churchwardens' Update

From the Churchwardens

Well, after several weeks of not much changing, the last few days have seen

colossal steps forward for us all with hints of more to follow, but we are mindful of

the mix of joy, fear and indecision felt by many. However, being able to meet in

the garden – socially-distanced of course – What a treat!

From the parish point of view, we have learnt that the fairly extensive work on the

Rectory, reported already as having started, will commence in earnest during this

coming week, with a view to being ready for Revd Nigel and Liz Prior before they

move in later in the summer. It is likely that his institution, giving him the authority to be Rector, will happen online and late in August, with his induction being delayed, until more social interaction is permitted. Embryonic plans for access to our buildings are now on hold, as we wait for an announcement allowing the re-opening of both to be considered and achieved.

We have said goodbye to Revd Canon Clare Sanders, our lovely Rural Dean and a

friend to many, but particularly helpful to both of us in the last year, and

welcomed (albeit only by e-mail, so far) her successor, The Ven. Annette Cooper.

At this stage, we should like to thank also Revd Paul Hambling, erstwhile Assistant

Curate of our own parish, but currently Rector of Melton and Ufford, not only for

his inimitable streamed services, but also for his kind, caring and sensible support.

Please do see the greater detail, kindly provided (on Page 7) by Mary Hare, as Lay

Chair of Woodbridge Deanery.

Another piece of good news received this week is that Andy Todd, who has been

following the Auxiliary Ordination Pathway, will - from 27th June - be given the

Bishop’s Licence as a Lay Minister in the benefice and later in the year is to be

ordained Deacon.

It would seem appropriate to ask that, as a community, we should all pray for

those whose names appear above, as they continue in their current role or begin to take on new duties/settle in pastures new.

As we continue to care for each other and look forward even further, please accept our love, prayers and best wishes for you, your family and friends.

Barbara and Veronica
